For managing large waste loads: the expanded EkoCity product family

The need for large waste and sorting bins is continuously growing. Busy events, commercial centers, station areas, and shopping districts attract many people, which significantly increases the waste load. In such locations, small bins fill up quickly and require frequent emptying – even multiple times a day. Each emptying increases waste management costs and burdens logistics, labor, and the environment. Bins with larger capacity significantly reduce the need for emptying and make waste management more cost-effective and smoother.

Customer Story: Satakunnan Osuuskauppa

At Satakunnan Osuuskauppa's Tikkula branch, in the busy shopping center courtyard, smaller waste bins filled up quickly and required daily emptying. Instead of several small waste bins, three larger capacity EkoCity sorting bins from Lehtovuori were installed. This solution reduced the need for emptying to twice a week, which has brought significant efficiency to waste management. At the same time, the environment remains clean and pleasant, and the party responsible for the maintenance of the site has been very satisfied with the new arrangement due to its functionality and practicality.

Explore the EkoCity Product Family

Lehtovuori's EkoCity sorting bins are designed especially for locations where a lot of waste is generated – such as busy commercial centers, station areas, and event venues. The product family has now expanded with the new EkoCity Flow model, which complements the familiar EkoCity range.

EkoCity 120 and 240

EkoCity bins are designed especially for locations where tightness and hygiene are important. The closable flap prevents odors from spreading and protects against birds and rodents. The bins can be opened either by hand or with a foot pedal, allowing for hands-free operation and increasing user comfort in outdoor spaces.

The EkoCity Flow model emphasizes clear sorting guidance and ease of use. The open throwing openings can be customized for different fractions, and their colors can also be chosen as needed. The solution guides users to correct sorting and simultaneously serves as a clear visual guide. The bin is also suitable for indoor spaces where a closable flap is not required.

Similarities within the product family

EkoCity and EkoCity Flow bins offer a durable solution for both public and private environments. Both models are available in 120 and 240-liter sizes, and they can be used individually or placed side-by-side to form larger sorting stations. The bins represent modern design and durable construction, providing a long-lasting solution that adapts to various capacity needs and environments. Sorting is supported by clear sorting labels, which are available as an accessory. Additionally, maintenance is effortless: the 45-degree angles of the lower part direct wash water directly to the floor, from where it is easy to remove.

New feature: fill level sensor

Along with the new EkoCity Flow model, the EkoCity sorting bin with a filling flap has also received an update. All EkoCity product family sorting bins can now be equipped with a fill level sensor. This accessory allows the bin to be connected to the AI-based Finbin Connect cloud service, which collects accurate information on the fill level of the bins in real-time, and optimizes emptying times and routes based on the data.

EkoCity Flow 240 bins placed side by side form a cohesive sorting station.

Growing waste volumes demand solutions that are simultaneously practical, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly. The expanded EkoCity product family offers diverse options for this need: large capacity, clear sorting solutions, and smart sensor technology that optimizes emptying and reduces unnecessary costs. This way, EkoCity and EkoCity Flow bins make waste management not only efficient but also more pleasant for both users and maintenance.
