Maintenance of surface materials
Different surface materials require different types of maintenance and cleaning. We compiled
maintenance and recycling instructions for different surfaces so that it would be easy for you to
take care of the products throughout their life cycle.
Guarantee as security
Our products are designed and manufactured for demanding conditions. Finbin products have
a 24-month material and parts warranty, except for wooden surfaces, locks, hinges, and gas
springs, which have a 12-month warranty.
METAL SURFACES
Cleaning metal surfaces
The powder-coated paint surface can be washed with water or a mild detergent; for stainless steel, we recommend alkaline cleaning agents intended for it. In particular, all surfaces exposed to sea or street salt should be cleaned regularly to prevent corrosion
Stainless steel
Stainless steel can be cleaned with an alkaline cleaning agent intended for it (pH over 8). Abrasives or tools made of iron or carbon steel should not be used for cleaning.
Powder-coated metal surfaces
Powder-coated metal surfaces are a durable solution, but sometimes they can also be damaged
as a result of vandalism, for example.
Remove rust by brushing or use sufficiently fine sandpaper, and prime the surface with zinc primer, for example. Check the product’s original colour shade, use spray paint and finish the surface with varnish.
Patch painting of painted metal surfaces
We recommend an alkyl-based solvent-thinned paint for patching scratches on metal. An example of such a paint is Teknos Teknolac Combi 50.
Scratches should be patched as soon as possible after they appear. Any surface rust should be sanded off and, if necessary, the surface treated with zinc paint to protect against corrosion.
WOOD
Cleaning wood surfaces
Products with a wooden surface can be cleaned with water and, if necessary, a mild detergent.
Products with a painted surface do not contain harmful substances, so you can wash them without having to worry about the environment
Translucent-treated or oiled wood surface
Translucent-treated or oiled wood surfaces should be treated 1-2 times a year with a water-based translucent stain or oil suitable for the original surface. Furniture in heavy use and kept outdoors all year round requires more frequent maintenance, but wood surfaces protected from the weather can have a significantly longer maintenance interval.
Painted wooden surface
Maintenance painting of overcoated wooden surfaces should be done every few years, or at the latest when the paint surface has worn off and the wooden surface is visible. Maintenance painting should be done with a color shade corresponding to the original RAL shade.
Composite
Composite parts do not require oiling or other regular surface treatment. Clean surfaces as needed and remove stains as soon as possible.
Remove loose dirt with a brush and wash the surface with lukewarm water, a soft brush or sponge, and, if necessary, a neutral detergent. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
A pressure washer may be used at a maximum pressure of 80 bar and from a distance of at least 20 cm. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or tools, steam cleaners, solvents, chlorine-containing cleaning agents, or steel brushes.
RECYCLING OF PRODUCTS
Recycling metal parts - steel into new steel
Steel parts, like all metal parts, are almost endlessly recyclable. New steel is made from recycled steel, which promotes the circular economy and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
You can recycle all metal parts as metal waste.
Recycling of wooden parts - wood into energy
Treated wood (heat treated, painted, stained, varnished) can be recycled as wood waste, which can be used in energy production either by burning or chipping.
The method of recycling wooden parts depends on the surface treatment of the wood.
Recycling of concrete - a growing trend
Concrete from concrete bases and footings can be recycled as a raw material for concrete production.
Crushed concrete can be used, for example, in the production of new concrete or in earthworks
